Mark 16: 15-20
What has been so difficult to comprehend these months is the utter destruction in the West Bank, Gaza and Israel.
These are the very streets where Jesus walked, gathered crowds, taught his disciples, cured the sick, nurtured faith and left those he loved to continue in His name, all the good works needed to create a quality of life for those He loved and cherished.
This narration of the Ascension are the last words of Mark’s Gospel.
Jesus is like a teacher who assures his students there is always more to be done. We hold sacred Jesus’ love for us, and his trust in our ability to write a new Gospel of caring, cherishing and being present to the most vulnerable.
We move to a place of honor each time we do as Jesus would do, He is right beside us. We ascend to the best side of ourselves as we do the work God puts in our pathways.
May we embrace what seems a briefing, way too short.
Mark 16: 15-20
Jesus said to his disciples:”Go into the whole world and proclaim the gospel to every creature. Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved; whoever does not believe will be condemned. These signs will accompany those who believe: in my name they will drive out demons, they will speak new languages. They will pick up serpents with their hands, and if they drink any deadly thing, it will not harm them. They will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
So then the Lord Jesus, after he spoke to them, was taken up into heaven and took his seat at the right hand of God. But they went forth and preached everywhere, while the Lord worked with them and confirmed the word through accompanying signs.
