NGO Committee on Social Development Holds Civil Society Forum

The conclusion of the Conference was marked by the Civil Society Forum, sponsored by members of the NGO Committee on Social Development, of which the Sisters of Notre-Dame are a stakeholder. This forum reflected on ways to unify civil society strategy to ensure that the 2025 Summit has a significant impact and is inclusive, with the aim of truly accelerating action on the commitments of the Copenhagen Declaration and the 2030 Agenda.   The forum also seized the opportunity to ensure that the voices of the most marginalized people are brought to the forefront of global efforts to strengthen the three pillars of social development: poverty eradication, decent work and social inclusion.

As the world prepares to host the second World Summit for Social Development in November 2025 in Qatar, it is essential that governments, civil society and other stakeholders work together to review the 1995 commitment to inclusive social development and elaborate policies that promote inclusion and equality to ensure that no one is left behind in the years to come.
