Romans 10:8b-13
“The word is near you, on your lips and in your heart”
because if you confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord
and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
For one believes with the heart and so is justified,
and one confesses with the mouth and so is saved.
The scripture says, “No one who believes in him will be put to shame.”
For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek
the same Lord is Lord of all and is generous to all who call on him.
For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Prayer
Artist of souls,
you sculpted a people for yourself
out of the rocks of wilderness and fasting.
Help us as we take up your invitation to prayer and simplicity,
that the discipline of these forty days
may sharpen our hunger for the feast of your holy friendship,
and whet our thirst for the living water you offer
through Jesus Christ. Amen
During this time of reflection, sacrifice and prayer,
please pray for urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
The year 2019 was the second warmest year on record
and the end of the warmest decade (2010-2019) ever recorded.
Carbon dioxide (CO2) levels and other greenhouse gases in
the atmosphere rose to new records in 2019.
