Sister Carolyn Jean Buhs, SNDdeN writes …
Dear Sisters,
Several Sisters have reached out to share their concern and prayer for the terrible fighting that is now going on in Khartoum, the capital of Sudan. The Kenya Unit had sent Sisters Frederica Jacob, Jane McAndrews and me to serve in El Obeid Diocese in the late 1980’s. Jane and I studied Arabic to help us with ministry in teaching the minor seminarians and in the Comboni School. We returned to Kenya to help with formation work with Kenyan women.
In 2011 I was able to join Solidarity with South Sudan to help with teacher training in Malakal Teacher Training College and then in Yambio Teacher Training College. During my nine years with Solidarity I was also able to help with organizing three institute libraries: the one in Malakal, the one in Yambio, and the Health Training Institute in Wau. I praise our Good God for the gift of being able to minister with such dedicated international missionaries from so many different congregations and countries. The South Sudanese and Nuba students were young people thirsting for education and desire to help their country. How Good is our Good God!
Let us continue to pray for justice and peace for South Sudan and Sudan!
Carolyn Jean Buhs, SNDdeN
